First time follower, first time commenter. Thanks for doing this Whit! I love love the Sermon on the Mount. It's a plain explanation of how we should be living our lives and how much our father in heaven cares for us.
"For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
This reminds me that we shape our relationship with Heavenly Father. He is always there, unconditionally loving us, waiting for us, but we have to ask, we have to look, we have to knock to develop that relationship with him.
The CES video was so good! I love when we talk about what perfect is and what the act of shooting for perfection means. That it is so much more about taking small steps and doing what we can than making impossible goals for ourselves. God did not become perfect in one day or year or lifetime, and we should strive to be better, but to remember that the definition for perfection includes the everyday growth and struggle to try to be better. Through small things are great things accomplished. I just like to substitite 'perfect' for 'whole.' And that reminds me that I have flaws and hurts and pains that I am still working on and forgiving myself for. A whole person to me has balance and gives priority to real meat of life. Remembering that helps me put the idea of perfection in context with who I really am and what I can really do to be more whole.
Thank you for your comments!! :)
